M&S has just unveiled the menu for this year’s edition of its mega popular Valentine’s ‘Dine In for Two’ meal deal.

And it’s sounding tastier than ever.

Last year, more than a million Brits headed on down to their nearest M&S to make the most of the retailer‘s now-legendary Valentine’s dining deal and celebrate the international day of love in a more low-key way from the comfort of their own home.

But this year, says it wants to top that success, and is hoping that its “most luxurious” menu yet will do just the trick.

For the first time ever, the retailer has added lobster to the main courses lineup on this year’s ‘Dine In’ menu after it proved so popular with shoppers and flew off the shelves over the Christmas season, with some of the other options sitting alongside that including steak, lamb shanks, and beef wellington, as well as mushroom stroganoff pies for plant-based foodies.

Just some of the starters and sides on the menu this year include king prawns, breaded camembert, tempura veg fritters, a leek and cheddar souffle tart, truffle mash, smashed potatoes, a cheesy green veg bake, and so much more.

To satisfy those sweet tooths at the end of an indulgent meal, triple chocolate brownies, a melt-in-the-middle chocolate pudding, tiramisu mousse cake, salted caramel profiteroles, white chocolate and raspberry mousse hearts, and even a mini cheese board are among the delights you can choose from.

Then, to wash it all down with, you can pick from a wide range of different wines and proseccos, or even a four-pack of M&S’s social media sensation Passionstar Martini co*cktail tinnies instead.

Lobster isn’t the only newbie this year either, as 2024 also marks the first time the Valentine’s ‘Dine In for Two’ deal has a fully gluten free menu, as well as a brand-new vegan menu too, so no lovers need be left out.

“This year’s menu is sure to set hearts racing,” an M&S spokesperson said.

Viewers have been left “in tears” as the emotional final episode of Hairy Bikers featuring Dave Myers aired last night.

Dave Myers – who was most well-known for being one half of the famous Hairy Bikers duo that starred in the BBC cookery and travel show of the same name, alongside Si King – sadly died late last month (28 February 2024) after revealing back in May 2022 that he had been diagnosed with cancer, and was undergoingchemotherapytreatment.

He passed away at the age of 66, with a tribute released by fellow Hairy Biker Si revealing his family and friends were by his side.

Hi everyone, I’m afraid I bear some sad news. Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. Prior to his death, Myers appeared onBBC Breakfast in January 2023, and as well as giving an update on his continuing treatment during the interview, he also announced that new series ofThe Hairy BikersTV show would air in 2023 and 2024, with the final episode airing some time in early 2024.

And last night, that finale finally came.

Viewers tuned in in their tens of thousands to watch the final episode of the beloved show that has been entertaining the masses for countless series and one-off specials for close to two decades.

Airing on BBC Two, with the episode also now available to watch on BBC iPlayer, the last episode of the seven-part Hairy Bikers Go West series – which has followed Dave and Si on a 650-mile road trip down the West Coast, of which Dave was receiving chemotherapy treatment throughout the duration of filming – saw the pair visit Lympstone Manor in Devon, which is run by Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines, before drawing to a close in Dorset.

In what was a truly candid moment at the end of the episode, Dave told the camera: “It’s been tough at times. I’ve had chemotherapy all the time we’ve been filming, it hasn’t been easy, but we’ve got there and it’s a wonderful feeling.”

Si then said: “We’ve done it, but more importantly, he’s done it”.

Then, after starting to well-up and become visibly emotional, he added: “He’s my mate, but I love him like family, like a brother, and I’m lost for words. It’s quite remarkable what he’s done,” before addressing Dave directly and saying it’s a “pay-off to your hard work, to your will, and to your effort.”

A beaming Myers then responded: “It’s a dream come true Kingy”, and as the episode drew to a close, the pair of best buds are seen sitting together on a bench, reflecting on the trip they’ve just taken together.

“Well, we’ve made it,” a visibly-moved Si said as the final words before the credits rolled.

After the final credits had finished, an image of Myers was shared with the message: “In loving memory of our friend, Dave Myers, 1957-2022”.

Fans of the show have been taking to social media in their hundreds to share their emotional reactions to the final episode, with many admitting they’d been left “in tears”.

Northern is hiring hundreds of new train drivers and conductors with ‘no previous experience’ neededEmily SergeantM&S unveils 2024 menu for popular Valentine's 'Dine In for Two' £25 meal deal (11)

Northern has just launched another massive recruitment drive, and is looking to hire hundreds of new train drivers and conductors.

The best bit? You don’t even need any previous rail experience to apply.

The train operator says it is looking to recruit as many as 300 drivers and conductors across right the north of England this year – with the new recruits all set to form part of the team that is responsible for running the over 2,500 services Northern provides to more that 500 stations throughout the region each day.

Northern says both its driver and conductor roles “require no previous rail industry experience”, as full paid-for training will be provided at its academies in Manchester and Leeds.

The company wants to welcome 108 new train drivers and 198 conductors in 2024.

The train driver roles – which will be advertised in the coming months in Manchester, as well as other nearby locations like Blackburn, Blackpool, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, and more – come with a starting salary of £23,000 a year, which eventually rises to £54,500 after completing a 64-week training course.

The conductor roles, on the other hand – many of which will also be advertised in Manchester too – come with starting salaries of £22,000 that rise to £29,000 on completion of 16-weeks of training.

Northern says its 2024 recruitment drive is part of a “normal and ongoing recruitment process” across the region, and comes as a handful of its other team members retire, earn promotion, or move on to the next stage of their career.

We want our workforce to reflect the communities we serve, and we’re proud to include people from all walks of life in our team, from military veterans and ex-police officers, to former office workers, and stay-at-home parents.”
