Instant Pot Chicken Noodle Soup In A Jar (2024)

Chicken Noodle Soup In A Jar is such an easy recipe and it has so many health benefits, not to mention how delicious it is. Plus this soup recipe is made in the Instant Pot, so not only is it easy to make, it doesn't require you to watch over it on the stove or dirty up a million pots and dishes.

Chicken noodle soup dairy free is an easy recipe to make. As long as you check all of your ingredients to ensure they're dairy free, you should be good. Make sure to check your chicken broth or stock if you bought it from a store as they can hide dairy in them easily.

Also, always be sure to check your spices to ensure they're allergen friendly and your egg noodles. If they aren't dairy free, replace with pasta that is. This recipe will still be delish.

Chicken Noodle Soup Benefits

The veggies found in this soup are full of minerals, Vitamins B & K and have antioxidant properties that are especially helpful when feeling under the weather by helping your immune system recover. They're also great for helping your immune system "beef up" to prepare for any possible illnesses.

That's one reason why Chicken Noodle Soup in a jar is so good to double or triple and always have on hand.

Recipe Variations

Swap egg noodles- use whatever noodles you have on hand if you don't have egg noodles. Be sure to pay attention to your noodle cook time if you're trying different ones.

Swap stock- instead of chicken stock, you can use vegetable or beef stock and if you don't have any of those on hand, chicken, vegetable or beef broth will do as well. Keep in mind that trading this out may change the flavor of your soup.

Trade meat- This easy Chicken Noodle soup in a jar recipe calls for chicken thighs, but you may swap it out for chicken breast or whatever cut of chicken you have on hand. This may also change your cook time in the Instant Pot depending on the type of chicken you're using.

Toss the boxed stock or broth- We know that you may not always have the time or the resources on hand, but we feel that using chicken broth or stock from scratch really makes this super even more perfect. If you have the ability, toss the boxed stuff and make your own stock or broth. Our recipe is coming soon.

Instant Pot Chicken Soup No Noodles- This is the perfect recipe to make without noodles, it can be lower in carbs, perfect to freeze and is full of so much flavor.

Tips & Tricks

  • Remember that the Instant Pot cook time for this recipe does not include time it takes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure or the time it takes for your natural pressure release.
  • If you're out of pasta but still want this soup, try tossing in cooked rice at the end and you'll have a similar soup to enjoy.
  • If you like more noodles in your soup, feel free to add more, you just may need to add a little more water or stock when cooking.
  • If using frozen chicken, you will need to increase the time the chicken cooks under pressure.
  • If freezing soup, don't add the noodles before you freeze it. They don't defrost well and will turn to mush.
  • Cut your veggies a little thicker so they don't become too mushy in the Instant Pot.
  • If possible, we recommend NOT using a low or no sodium chicken broth or stock as this will decrease the flavoring.

Can I Use Different Cuts Of Chicken?

Absolutely, if you have different cuts of chicken on hand or prefer a certain kind of chicken meat over the other, by all means, use it. Just make sure you have enough of it to shred and enjoy in the soup.

Can You Use Rotisserie Chicken?

While you technically can use rotisserie chicken, we don't recommend it for this recipe, unless in a real pinch. We don't think you'll get the full hearty chicken soup flavor like you would with the chicken that gets cooked under high pressure with all these spices and flavors infusing in it as you cook it, not just already cooked meat.

But if this is the route you choose to take, we recommend simmering the rotisserie bones and meat for a bit and adding it to the soup mixture. While this will not replace the broth or give it the full chicken flavoring, this will help if you only have rotisserie chicken on hand.

How Do You Store Chicken Soup?

If you plan to consume and enjoy this soup within a few days of cooking, we recommend storing in a Mason Jar in the refrigerator.

We also recommend waiting to add the noodles until you plan to enjoy the soup, so if you're making it a few days ahead, we recommend waiting to make the noodles until you want to eat the soup or they'll get super soggy and may start to break down in the soup.

Can You Freeze This Soup?

Sure can! In fact, this is a staple in our freezer. We like to make extra batches of this soup, let it cool and then add it to our freezer bags.

We lay the bags flat in the freezer to freeze for space efficiency and then we remove the bag, label it with pertinent info (name, date, use by, etc) and add the info to our freezer inventory sheet so we know how many containers are in there and what we have available.

This saves us time, money, and freezer space in the long run.

How To Reheat Frozen Soup?

The night before, pull your Frozen Chicken Noodle Soup out of the freezer and place in the refrigerator to thaw overnight. When you're thinking of enjoying the soup, reheat on the stovetop and while cooking your noodles to add into your reheated soup.

How Long Is This Soup Good For?

Once the soup cools and you've put it in your container, you can refrigerate it for up to a week.

If you choose to freeze it, label it and store it properly and it will be good in the freezer for around 6- 9 months.

Remember not to add the noodles to the containers you plan on freezing. Add the noodles once you defrost and reheat the soup to enjoy it.
