Hot Ham&Swiss Croissants are my favorite easy sandwich, perfect for lunch or for dinner!

This is one of my most popular recipes and I know it’s a favorite in our house.

Check out this video to see how to make these delicious Hot Ham & Swiss Sandwiches!

It is such a simple meal and I think that is the appeal. It is easy enough that anyone can make them and the flavor combo is amazing!

My favorite thing to do is make a big batch of these and wrap them in foil, then keep them in the fridge. They take minutes to heat up and are a lifesaver on busy nights. It is so comforting to know I have these hearty sandwiches waiting in the fridge and dinner will be just minutes away.

They are also great to keep in the fridge for fast lunches, filling breakfasts or hearty snacks when they come home from work and school ravenous.

The honey mustard sauce on these really bump up the flavor and take them to the next level. It is sooo good, you can use it on these sandwiches, as a dipping sauce for chicken strips, or even a salad dressing.

The buttery croissant holds all the warm ham and gooey cheese deliciousness. Everything compliments each other so well making it the ultimate sandwich!

Hot Ham & Swiss Croissants are perfect on a cold winter night, a breezy spring day, a chilly fall evening, and since they require minimal heating up time they are great to make on those scorching summer days when you do not want to be in the hot kitchen.

I’ve also had a lot of people say they love taking these camping because you can make them ahead of time and warm them up at camp. Love it!

RECIPE FAQS

Can I use any cheese?

Any cheese you like will work, just make sure you use a slice on each side for optimal meltiness!

What is the best ham to use?

Any ham you like will work! I like using honey ham from the deli, but whatever deli ham you have on hand will work. You can also use leftover ham from the holidays, that would work wonderfully in this recipe!

Can I freeze these?

You sure can!! Assemble the sandwiches and then you can wrap them in foil and pop them into a freezer bag until you are ready to use. Be sure to thaw them before cooking or just add a little extra cooking time to be sure they are warm and melty all the way through. Freeze for up to 3 months.

Can these be made with no sauce?

Of course!! I love the sauce and it adds a pop of flavor, but if you aren’t a mustard fan or have picky eaters (I feel you!) then feel free to leave it out, they will still be yummy!

Do I have to wrap these individually?

I get this question a lot. You guys want to know if you can make all the sandwiches, pop them on a cookie sheet and then wrap the whole thing in foil and bake the next day. Yes you can do that if you are baking them the next day. I would not freeze them without being individually wrapped and I would not keep them for a more than a day in the fridge unless they are individually wrapped, they will not stay fresh as long. If I were to use this method I would wrap the pan in plastic wrap to keep them fresh and then remove it and replace with foil before baking.

Do these travel well?

These travel amazing!!! I have lots of readers that tell me they love making these for camping because they travel so well and are so easy to reheat and can feed a crowd which makes them perfect for taking to parties, pot lucks, camping, traveling and picnics!!!

How to make Hot Ham & Swiss Croissants

  • FULL RECIPE BELOW
  • Just spread a little homemade honey mustard on a split croissant.
  • Add swiss cheese on both sides (you can never have enough cheese!!) Then pile on some thin sliced ham.
  • Sandwich it closed.
  • Wrap in foil.
  • Now you can either put them in the fridge or bake them.
  • I place what I need on a cookie sheet and pop them in a 350 degree oven for about 10-15 minutes. You just want to warm them up and really melt the cheese.
  • Then voila you have the perfect dinner! I serve these with a little side salad and it makes for an amazing dinner that is so easy to whip together!

INGREDIENTS

  • Dijon Mustard- This adds a great pop of flavor to these sandwiches but you can use what you have on hand.
  • Honey- This adds a little sweetness to the sandwiches.
  • Brown sugar- Adds a little sweetness and flavor to the sauce.
  • Croissants- I like to use the large full size ones but you can use the minis too if your prefer.
  • Swiss cheese- These are hot ham and swiss but if you do not like swiss feel free to use your favorite sliced cheese.
  • Deli ham- Any flavor you like and you might not end up using the whole pound, depends on how thick you like your sandwiches. This is also a great recipe to use up leftover ham.
