Cookie Dough Dip {Trim Healthy Mama Makeover Recipe} (1)

When I first started doing Trim Heathy Mama, I stuck to the basics. I’m not a foodie, so experimenting with recipes is not my forte. However, as I’ve gotten more confident in building and changing recipes, one of my favorite things to do is THMify favorite recipes.

This cookie dough dip is one of those recipes.

About a year ago, I came across an amazing Cookie Dough Dip recipe from Add A Pinch. It is decadent, let me tell you!

The kids were asking me to make it again, but I knew it was going to be an instant sugar overload, so I decided to experiment and see what I could come up with that would taste just as wonderful, but not send my blood sugar through the roof.

This is the result of that experiment…

I first set out ingredients fora double batch of the Add a Pinch recipe because I have a large family and knew I wanted to have enough extra to make some of it by the recipe and some of it THM’d for me. (But honestly, I don’t think the kids would have noticed if I’d made the whole thing THM – and it sure would have been a lot healthier for them too!)

Once I hadthe butter and cream cheese creamed, I took out 1 cup of the mixture and set it aside as “mine”. (You could definitely use a lower fat cream cheese to help cut down on calories.)

By the way, the recipe at the bottom of this post is for a FULL BATCH of Cookie Dough Dip. If you want to make enough to share or save for later, make the bigger recipe.

For a quick treat make the 1 cup recipe:

By the way, is it just me, or is there something kind of sneaky-happy about making a treat just for me in my own little bowl?!

So, after I took out the 1 cup for myself, I continued on with theoriginal recipe for the kids so that they would be occupied with eating while I made my own healthy treat.

(Again…I should have just THM’d the entire recipe and kept it healthy for them too.)

While my kids dipped their ooey-gooey goodnessup with graham crackers, Istarted throwing together my version with all intentions of eating this stuff by the spoonful…alone…in a dark room.

Oh wait! It’s healthy! No dark rooms needed!

To the 1 cup of butter/cream cheese mixture, I added 1/4 tsp caramel extract and1 Tbsp Trim Healthy Mama Sweet BlendCookie Dough Dip {Trim Healthy Mama Makeover Recipe} (4). (If you don’t have the Sweet Blend, take a look at this conversion chart and find an alternative sweetener you do have.)

Lastly, I stirred in 1 oz of chopped unsweetened baker’s chocolate. It’s what I had on hand, but you could use any plan approved chocolate (Lily’s Stevia Sweetened Chocolate ChipsCookie Dough Dip {Trim Healthy Mama Makeover Recipe} (5)would be fantastic!), including skinny chocolate!

By the way, Lily’s chocolate is expensive, but oh so good! Frankly, way better than skinny chocolate. (Sorry friends, I’m just not a fan.)

My favorite (which is kind of hard to find) is the Milk Chocolate.

But a close second favorite are Lily’s semi-sweet chocolate chips – and they are much easier to find at your local grocery store.

The end result was so YUMMY!

I chose to simply use my spoon and savor tiny bites of this dip – no carby graham crackers needed!

However, you could use this recipe for low-carb cinnamon dippers to be your vehicle for getting this tasty treat to your mouth.

Or you could try a S cookie.

But folks, you really don’t need anything but a spoon! Trust me here!

You can do what I did above and make some for you and some for the rest of the family by taking out a portion for yourself and THMifying it, or you can use the recipe below and share the sugar-free goodness!

The recipe below will make plenty to go around! (Use the recipe within the post if you just want a little treat for yourself.)

If your cookies are still spreading, add an extra 2 Tablespoons of flour to the cookie dough. Don't overmix the cookie dough ingredients. Cream the butter and sugar for only as long as you need to, usually about 1-2 minutes. Don't begin beating then leave the room with the mixer running.

What can I add to my cookies to make them less flat? ›

Now is not the time to skimp! Adding chocolate chips to the cookie recipe actually helps your cookies from spreading in the oven. They give the cookies structure and will keep your cookies from going flat. So adding less than the recipe calls for, could be a reason why your cookies to spread.

How do you make cookies more dense? ›

Melting butter incorporates no air, leading to denser cookie. If you brown your butter (cook the butter until the milk solids brown and it gives off a rich, nutty aroma), this causes the water content of the butter to evaporate, lending no extra moisture to the dough, yielding a very dense, but richly flavoured cookie.
