18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (2024)

Dessert. It’s one of those things- can’t live with them and can’t live without them. It is definitely the latter in my house. About an hour after we finished dinner my husband will typically ask what’s for dessert. If we don’t have anything, then somebody is making a dessert run to Walmart or a restaurant.

Pretty soon though, nobody is going to be able to make the runs because we will be living too far out for this to be feasible. Therefore, I want to get in the habit of baking a few different things at the beginning of the week to get us through.

Doing this means planning ahead, so here are some of the dessert recipes that are either tried and true in my house or ones I know would be winners.

Winning Dessert Recipes

1. Cookie Dough Cheesecake Bars

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (2)

I can remember the first time I saw this recipe. It was shortly after I got my start on Pinterest- back when I was worried it wouldn’t get saved, so I hand wrote every recipe I came across.

I was stunned by the beautiful handwritten notes as to what each layer was, and even more stunned when I made the recipe, and the entire batch was gone before the night was through. While we do eat dessert, this typically does not happen.

I was impressed, and it has since become a regular when I want to make something I know there will be no complaining about by anyone. For that, I tip my hat to Jamie at My Baking Addiction. Head over to her site and see for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!

2. Banana Foster

I’m getting a kitchen torch this Tuesday. I know this because it’s already on the way- purchased off of Amazon. I cannot wait! Thisrecipe will probably be the second recipe I make after creme brulee.

Banana Foster is such a fun dish, and it takes me back to my early adulthood when my husband lived on the gulf coast of Mississippi and would spend almost equal amounts of time exploring New Orleans.

This recipe is sweet but has that hint of yum that only alcohol can genuinely bring- but don’t worry, this recipe is still family friendly because while the flavors are there, the alcohol cooks out.

3. Coffee Macarons with Nutella Filling

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (4)

This is a recipe I want to make soon. It seems odd to me that so many people struggle with macaroons. Out of the three times I have made them, they have turned out three times. My trick? Making sure there is less than twenty-fivepercent humidity. I honestly cannot remember the flavors of my first ones but my second ones were traditional and my third ones I made a few weeks back, and they were eggnog flavored.

Each time deliciously perfect. So now I want to adventure with two of my favorite dessert flavors- Nutella and coffee. To me, coffee would be the drink of choice with any dessert, so it just makes sense here. Allie over at Baking a Moment did a great job with these, and I will be making them sometime this week!

4. Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (5)

I had heard of these before, but it wasn’t until early October I had ever tried one. My oldest daughter and I had some time to kill while the younger one was at a doctor’s appointment, so we headed over to the onsite coffee shop (you see a theme here?) and they had these for sale. Of course, we had to get one.

I liked it probably more than my daughter because while the chocolate chip cookie bakes, it softens up the oreo which makes it taste that much better to me. While perhaps not this week, you can bet this one will be on my menu within the month.

If this is up your alley, check out the full recipe over at Suburban Simplicity.

5. Brown Butter Blueberry Peach Crisp

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (6)

If you are looking for the queen of desserts- I think you found her. Every single recipe by Sally from Sally’s Baking Addiction that I have ever made has turned out superb. I still have students who request her cake batter chocolate chip cookies.

I wanted to add some good fruit recipe in the mix though because sometimes dessert doesn’t mean something with a ton of sugar in it. I love the addition of browned butter because sometimes it gets a bad rap. Here’s a chance to redeem itself while blending in beautifully with blueberries and peaches.

6. Strawberry Pudding Souffles

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (7)

Another great recipe that doesn’t require a ton of sugar. As a matter of fact- it doesn’t need any sugar. Instead, it uses honey and the strawberries to make the recipe sweet.

I plan to wait to try these dessert recipes until strawberries are in season around here but I made sure to save this recipe, found over at Perry’s Plate, for a warm night after a good meal.

7. Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (8)

Fourth of July the year I was fifteen, my mother and I went to a party over at a friend’s house. I got so excited when I saw they had ice cream cones to eat after our hot dogs and hamburgers. Despite my age, it never dawned on me that it was quite odd the ice cream hadn’t started to melt. I scooped one up and proceeded to lick the icing as if it were ice cream.

Man, oh, man was I surprised! And thanks to that story, I now know what I am making on April fool’s day this year for my girls. To see how to make the recipe for yourself, check out Blahnik Baker‘s post on the matter.

8. Chocolate Espresso Mousse

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (9)

The previous number focused on my young sweet tooth, and this one focuses on my adult sweet tooth. Coffee gives my adult taste buds a bit more liking for the bitter taste of coffee combined with the sweetness of the chocolate, making it a perfect combination. As a matter of fact, there is not much sugar in this recipe- only a third of a cup.

It’s cool to look at the recipe go from pudding-like to mousse-like by merely putting it in the refrigerator. To get all the details, head over to Kylee Cooks.

9. slu*tty Cheesecake Bars

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (10)

Oh my goodness, this recipe looks absolutely delicious. If you are like me, you know, one of those people who like cookies, pay attention. With cookie dough started on the bottom, thenext layer is Oreos, and then Oreo filled cheesecake with caramel on top.

Are you sold yet? Yes, so am I. Head over to Delish to see Lindsey’s entire recipe from start to finish.

10. Slow Cooker Chocolate Molten Lava Cake

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (11)

I love this cake for a number of reasons. The first one because it has thrown together ingredients- cake mix and instant pudding. Not too much thinking. Second, if you put a slow cooker line in the pot, you have no cleanup- just scoop up the bag and throw it away. And last, you put it together, let it sit for a few hours, then you’re good to go.

Not to mention, it’s warm and gooey. Perfect for a chilly night, and with ice cream, it’s perfect anytime! For the full recipe, head over to Taste of Home.

11. Picnic Banana Pudding

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (12)

I had banana pudding about a week ago at our Christmas potluck at school. What I mean by I had some, was that I got the end scrapings and it was a bit disappointing. I wanted more.

Therefore, I feel it is only right to share this recipe and what I learned while looking for this recipe. I learned that many southerners preferred it with meringues and ate it warm, while others prefer it with cold and with whipped cream. I, personally, prefer the latter which is why I gave you this recipe. Hope you enjoy!

12. The Best and Easiest Classic Apple Crisp Dessert

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (13)

Here’s what I love about a crisp- you can make it with whatever you have lying around. Need to use up soft apples? Crisp. Have cherries canned that you want to use? Crisp.

So while this recipe says it’s an apple crisp, just substitute with what you have and enjoy. To get the recipe, head over to Dreaming in DIY.

13. Meringue Floating in Creme Anglaise

I think the French really know what they are doing. These floating meringues are delicious and different, something unique to try. I love that they use fresh food, including the eggs used to make the anglaise.

You get the crunch with the sweet, and the little ones could really have fun playing with their food. To read this recipe head over to Savuer. There are many different French dessert recipes on there as well!

14. Buttermilk Pie

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (14)

I love buttermilk pie. This year was the first year I had ever tried it, but the creaminess and silky texture of the pie make it almost dreamy. The great thing about this pie is you can eat it warm, room temperature, and chilled.

But what makes me really love this pie recipe is the fact that you can take small cookie cutters and make your pie crust look cute on top! Get creative with the pie crust if you desire, but you really should try this recipe. The full recipe is brought to you by Christin at Spicy Southern Kitchen.

15. Boardwalk Quality Maple Walnut Fudge

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (15)

This recipe was created by a lady titled “Shore Cook” on All Recipes. She made this recipe with her husband so they could have boardwalk quality fudge all- year round.

I think fudge gets a bad rep for being a Christmas time treat but here’s your chance (and a good reason to) eat it whenever the mood hits you.

16. Caramelised Yoghurt with Torched Berries

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (16)

This one requires a few specialty tools. The sous vide machine does wonders, much in the way that a slow cooker does. I bought one right after Thanksgiving and since have felt like I cannot live without it. These dessert recipes are an one example of why it is so handy to have around.

And if you are interested in a sous vide machine and want to know which one is best on the market, be sure to read our article about these handy gadgets.

17. Sticky Date Pudding

18 Amazing Dessert Recipes to Leave You Drooling and Wanting More (17)

I had always turned my nose to dates until one day I learned that the flour covered items that I eat in store-bought trail mix was dates. After that, I bought some in larger form at the grocery store and had been stuck on them since.

It’s a good thing too because this is a sticky date pudding. I cannot wait to try it as the flavor is already delicious and I don’t know many people who don’t like pudding! The full recipe can be found over at Taste.

18. S’mores Cookie Bars

S’mores are the ultimate dessert in my opinion. There is so much you can do with them, and they are good any time of the year.

I chose to send you to this post because the author does an excellent job of saying “Hey, here’s a great recipe but I tweaked it a little.” It’s important to share ideas and improve on them. In my opinion, that’s what dessert recipes are all about.

Concluding Winning Dessert Recipes

Dessert recipess should not be forbidden, they give us some of our greatest pleasures in life and can be a source of comfort in the hardest times. The problem is we need to learn to respect the dessert- to give it the place it deserves, daring not to eat too much but not be willing to eat too little.

I hope this list gets you started on your journey to appreciating this fine evening treat.
